Ever wondered why your signature scent dulls during the chilly season? It’s usually because your skin is too dry for it to hold due to the cold weather and central heating. This is why it’s important to switch up your body care and perfume ritual. Here are three simple steps to winter-proof your fragrance ritual.
Tip 1: Prep Skin
Carve out dedicated ‘exfoliation time’ during your bath or shower with a body scrub, such as either our No.10 Cleansing Scrub and/or Invigorating Bath & Shower Scrub. Both of these scrubs rejuvenate the skin with nourishing ingredients that are perfect for winter. The result? A smooth, all-round healthy glow that acts as the perfect base for your fragrance to shine. Now you are ready to apply your favourite cologne to clean skin.
Tip 2: Reach For Richer Notes
During the winter season, there is less body heat to diffuse your scent, which means you'll want to dial up the depth in your fragrance wardrobe. Ambery, musky and woody fragrances tend to be longer lasting. Try our Sandalwood, 1805 or Apsley Colognes.
Tip 3: Applying Cologne
Apply to pulse points – such as the side of your neck or wrists – as these areas generate the most heat which activate the fragrance. Spray 3-6 inches away from your body to eliminate the risk of over-applying and concentrating the fragrance.
You can also use 'sweater weather' to your advantage by layering your perfume. Spritz snug woollens and scarves as the notes really cling to the fibres. You can also mist a t-shirt or camisole to wear underneath. As it hugs your body, the warmth from your skin helps to make the scent last longer.
